Welcome to the oldest known pizzeria, Antica Pizzeria at Port’Alba in Naples, Italy. It was established in 1738 as a snack stall for street merchants and about 100 years later it became a pizzeria.
 

Pizzeria Brandi was first opened in 1780 by Pietro Coliccio, who was known as Pietro il pizzaiuolo (Peter the Pizza maker). Maria Brandi and her husband Raffaele Esposito later bought this pizzeria. It is here where Raffaela made Queen Margherita the famous margherita pizza in honor of the Italian flag: red tomatoes, green basil, and white mozzarella cheese.
